Let’s say you’re downloading a file to a desktop computer. You can periodically glance at the progress bar to monitor the download as it progresses and determines if the download has been completed. This visual monitoring process is easy to do on a desktop computer. However, if you are downloading a file to your pocket PC, you might not be able to visually monitor the download progress.

It would be more convenient if you could initiate the file download and then put away the device in your pocket while you carry out other tasks, for example, buying an train ticket and walking to the platform to wait for the train.
